Smoky Mountains January Vacation

Smoky Mountains January Vacation

A brand new year is finally here and that means that it’s time to start planning your Smoky Mountains January Vacation! January is one of the best months to visit us here in Pigeon Forge and the surrounding areas because the hustle and bustle slows down a bit. You’re actually able to get out and about without having to worry about any lines or traffic. This is the best time of the year to be able to see and do everything you may not be able to when it’s tourist season here again. Another added bonus are rates for different shows and attractions tend to run a bit cheaper since it’s a slower season for us. When you stay with us here at Whispering Pines, we actually have a fantastic special going on for the month that you should absolutely try to take advantage of! You can stay three days for the price of two, talk about some great savings! We offer one, two, three, and four bedroom condos with either a city, nature, or mountain view so you can take in all that this new year has in store for us. We also offer FREE TICKETS to numerous shows and attractions in the area that you won’t want to miss especially during this less busy time of year. Let’s take a look at some of the places we can go and things we can do this January to help make it a memorable vacation for the whole family!

If you’re a foodie like me then the Smokies are one of the best places to visit if you’re looking for some delicious food to try! There are so many local gems here that are bound to make you want to come back again and again. The Morning Mist Cafe is one delightful place that I’ve actually just recently discovered myself. Offering an excellent lunch menu consisting of burgers, salads, and sandwiches, this little restaurant had me wanting to come back the very next day to get another amazing tuna salad sandwich! This little place also had some of the best customer service I’ve ever received in this area and that says a lot since we’re known for our southern hospitality around here! It’s definitely one to stop by at if you’re in the Arts & Crafts district. The Old Mill Restaurant and the Pottery House Cafe & Grille are two more of my favorite spots to eat in the area. The first one is served family style and offers some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life. The soup, oh goodness, don’t even get me started about that delicious soup! I could eat here every single day of the week and never get sick of it. The same goes for the Pottery House, they offer some of the best sandwiches around and you never leave hungry when you visit this location! Another fan favorite actually has two different restaurants on site! Head on over to the Apple Barn to try the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and the Applewood Farmhouse Grille, both will knock your socks off when it comes to fabulous southern style meals! Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, these establishments will get your taste buds tingling the second that you sit down and look at the menu. Best part of all? They treat you to apple fritters and apple julep all day! The entire family will all be in agreement about these two restaurants the next time you ask “where should we go for dinner?” Local tip: The Grille does not serve dinner on Sundays!

What’s next on the list? Attractions in the area of course! When you vacation here in the Smokies, there will never be a dull day because there’s so much to do. As soon as January comes around, it’ll seem like there’s even more than usual to partake in since you’ll be able to zip through so many different places all in one day! Ober Gatlinburg is one to visit as soon as you can in January so you can catch the amazing ski season there without it being too crowded! Get ready to hit the slopes with either your skis or board and fly through the glistening white powder, and maybe even catch some air (if you know how to do tricks of course!) If the slopes aren’t calling your name, then the next best thing to do is snow tubing, my personal favorite. With other exciting things to do there like the scenic chairlift and ice skating, this is sure to be one park you won’t want to miss during the down season! Also, at the end of the month, they will be hosting Tennessee’s State Winter Special Olympics which is one event you’ll want to check out this January! Come and cheer on these amazing athletes as they compete in all different activities like speed skating and snowboarding, talk about an exciting time! Another popular place to visit during your vacation is The Island! This location has so many fun attractions all in one place that is sure to be a hit with every single member of the family. From a ropes course to an escape game (try The Heist, it was so much fun!) and even a spectacular Ferris Wheel (that you get a free ticket for when you stay with us!) to see our beautiful mountains from way up above, this is one place that you’ll want to take some time to enjoy while you can!

Of course I saved the best for last! That’s right, we have to talk about shopping. There are so many incredible local spots to visit to during the quieter season to pick up anything and everything you could ever need so let’s just get right the good stuff. One of my favorite places to shop is the Incredible Christmas Place! I don’t know about you, but when January comes around, I find myself already missing Christmas. This place brings back the holiday spirit and it has so many incredible deals to snag during this time, no wonder it has the name that it does! This location should definitely be number one on your list. The Arts & Crafts Community in Gatlinburg is another place that you won’t want to miss out on! With so many local shops full of beautiful handcrafted items like candles, pottery, quilts, paintings, and so much more, you’re bound to leave with a few one of a kind items to show everyone back at home. I could spend all day in this area, it’s sure to become a spot that you’ll want to visit for years to come!

These were just a few things to take advantage of during a Smoky Mountains January Vacation, but there are so many others that I didn’t list like hiking and seeing the winter waterfalls! You’re bound to have an incredible vacation and beat the buzz of tourist season while you do it! And before you leave, don’t forget to take part in the Winterfest Driving Tour of Lights where you’ll get to see over five million twinkling lights during your journey! It’s the most enchanting spectacle to see when you’re in town during the winter months and the best part? It’s free and there’s no traffic! So hop on in your car and check out what our holiday displays have to offer, it’ll feel like it’s still Christmas time! You can find a map for it right here! So what are you waiting for? Book your Smoky Mountains January Vacation now and don’t forget to take advantage of our fabulous January Special where you can stay three nights for the price of two! Come and join our family, we’d love to have to have you!
