All of the top notch area attractions that folks return to year after year are a lot of fun. There is something for everyone along the Pigeon Forge Parkway and the Gatlinburg Strip. However, change it up just a little bit in 2016 and partake in something a little bit different. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers many different activities that are sure to entice people from all ages. All of these activities and events are free too! You just can’t beat that.

  • A Walk in the Woods – Take a leisurely stroll and discover stories of history and nature while walking along trail. Enjoy the scenery of the beautiful Smoky Mountains as you get away from it all.

    • When: Every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 3/25/16 to 5/8/16
  • Coffee with a Ranger – Sit down with a Ranger while enjoying a big ole cup of coffee. Learn about all the happenings in the National Park and a various range of topics and interests.
    • Time: 10AM to 11AM
    • Location: Oconaluftee Visitor Center – Porch
    • When: Every Saturday from 3/26/16 to 5/7/16
  • Creature Feature – Join a ranger and learn about a few of the creatures that live in one of the most diverse places in the world.
    • Time: 2PM to 2:30PM
    • Location: Sugarlands Visitor Center
    • When: Everyday from 3/25/16 to 5/8/16
  • Junior Ranger Program – Let the kids loose as they partake in some hands – on activities and exploring. They even earn a badge and certificate! It is sure to be a hit.
    • Time: 1PM to 1:45PM
    • Location: Cades Cove Visitor Center
    • When: Every Saturday from 3/26/16 to 5/7/16
  • Stories that Flowers Tell – Hear some interesting stories as you walk along the trails about the flowers that the Great Smoky Mountains National Park are known for.
    • Time: 1PM to 2:30PM
    • Location: Sugarlands Visitor Center
    • When: Every Saturday from 3/26/16 to 5/7/16
  • WILD Program – Enjoy a demonstration of the wild things you will find in the Smoky Mountains.
    • Time: 2:30PM to 3PM
    • Location: Cades Cove Visitor Center

  • Down on the Farm – Walk down memory lane and learn about the activities the early settlers did. Activities such as fence building, woodworking and gardening.
    • Time: 2PM to 4PM
    • Location: Mountain Farm Museum

  • Old Town of Elkmont – Stroll Elkmont with a Ranger as they tell you the stories of what was once a major boomtown.
    • Time: 1:30PM to 3PM
    • Location: Elkmont Ranger Station

  • Precious Memories – The Primitive Baptist Church at Cades Cove – learn the history and importance.
    • Time: 11AM to 11:30PM, 1PM to 1:30PM
    • Location: Cades Cove Primitive Baptist Church
    • When: Every Tuesday and Thursday from 3/29/16 to 5/5/16
  • School Days at Little Greenbrier – Learn what it was like to go to school in a one room schoolhouse and discover what it was like to live in a mountain community. Great for all ages; space is limited.
    • Time: 11AM to 2PM
    • Location: Little Greenbrier School

  • Charismatic Mega-fauna – Ever wonder what it is? Spend time with a ranger and get an education on what some of the things are growing in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

    • Location: Oconaluftee Visitor Center
    • When: Every Friday from 3/25/16 to 5/6/16
  • Blacksmith Demonstration – Learn all about the art of blacksmithing and what it meant to the Cades Cove community.
    • Time: 10AM to 4PM
    • Location: Cades Cove Visitor Center/Cable Mill
