Sometimes winter feels like it can go on for ages and all we want is to see the beautiful flowers blooming and the rays of sunlight beaming down on us. With every season comes a bunch of exciting new events to enjoy while you’re visiting us here in the Great Smoky Mountains. Spring is always one of the most popular times of the year to plan a trip to see us and it’s for good reason. The events during this time are always a lot of fun and they’ve been going on for so many years that visitors just keep on coming back for them again and again. We love seeing familiar faces and welcoming new ones to the family. If you’ve never visited us before, we hope you’ll continue reading to learn about our fantastic April Events in the Smokies! We might just keep welcoming you back every year after you find out about all of them.

Dollywood’s Festival of Nations – If you visited Dollywood last year, you may remember this new and exciting event that happens at the park. Due to its success, they brought it back again this year and it will be going on until April 14th. Not only will there be stellar performances from artists all around the world, but there will also be all kinds of food from many different cultures to try out. You’ll get to see Cuba Vibra! as well as Drumstruck and we can’t wait to hear what you all think of the show!

Smoky Mountain Trout Tournament – This one will be in Gatlinburg. It’s time for the 20th annual trout tournament and it’s one that is fun for all ages! Whether you’re a local or just visiting, if you love fishing, this is a must check out (or enter to participate!) According to the website, you have a chance to win over $10,000 in cash and prizes. The river will be stocked with trout prior to the event and it begins on April 6th and will end on April 7th. Remember that you must have a valid fishing license to participate. We hope to see you all there for two days of pure excitement!

Spring Rod Run – It’s time for the event you’ve all been waiting for. That’s right, it’s rod run time. Car enthusiasts and visitors alike are sure to absolutely love this special weekend. From vintage cars to all new rides, you can see it all and then some during this fast paced weekend. All these beautiful cars line up all along the parkway in Pigeon Forge and you can spend your time cruising by to see them in all their glory. A lot of the owners actually sell or trade the cars during this time so if you’re on the hunt for something specific, this is exactly where you’ll want to be from April 11-13. The actual event takes place at the Leconte Center (traffic light #5) and there will be top 25 awards, a huge swap meet, as well as an $8,000 cash giveaway and more! For more information, be sure to check out their website and we’ll be seeing you all soon.

Smoky Mountain Wine Weekend – Are you ready to sample some of the finest Tennessee wines? This special event is probably already calling your name then. It’s a weekend you’re sure to never forget and will take place in Gatlinburg at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts on April 13th. All different popular wineries from our area will bring samples to sip on and talk about with your friends or loved ones. Local restaurants will also be supplying tasty food for us to try. While certain aspects of the event have limited availability, the main event has plenty of tickets still available for purchase. Check out their website to see the cost and what your group may be specifically looking for!

Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community Easter Show – From April 17th until the 20th, you can visit the Gatlinburg Convention Center to see this special event. If you’ve never visited our historic Arts & Crafts Community, you can get a taste of what it’s all about at this time. We know you’ll end up taking a trip out to the loop to see more when you’re done! Our talented local artisans will be showing off their unique crafts for us all to enjoy. From pottery and quilts to jewelry and more, you will get to leave with one of a kind goodies to take home with you.

Breakfast or Brunch with the Easter Bunny – While this event does require reservations, it’s one that we know the kiddos will absolutely love. Not only is the Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grille one of our favorite restaurants to eat at, but they go all out this special holiday. Kids can enjoy a delicious breakfast or brunch with the hoppiest bunny around. Get the camera ready and have a great time at this unforgettable event. Call 865-406-6558 for reservations!

Easter Egg Hunt – Join us Saturday, April 20th at Patriot Park for our annual easter egg hunt! Beginning at 10:30 am, everyone can go on one exciting adventure to find those colorful eggs that we love so much. There will also be games, a raffle, and easter bunny photo opportunities. Best of all, this is completely free, so we hope you’ll come on down and enjoy the festivities with us! We know everyone in your party will love this one.

Easter Sunrise at Ober Gatlinburg – It’s time for our annual sunrise service at Ober Gatlinburg on top of Mt. Harrison. It takes place at 6:30 am. As the sun begins to rise, you’ll get to enjoy a beautiful service held right in the parking lot with views of our majestic rolling hills. So many people attend this each year and it’s for good reason. We’re blessed to be able to have such an amazing place to celebrate this special holiday with our loved ones and give thanks for all that we have. Afterwards, their Seasons of Ober restaurant puts on a huge breakfast buffet for everyone to take advantage of and the prices are very reasonable. You can either take the tram or drive up Ski Mountain (be careful, this is a curvy mountain.) This is a must do if you’re in town!
