Are you long overdue for a trip to Pigeon Forge and the Great Smoky Mountains? I think a lot of people are simply ready to venture out and get a change of scenery. If it has been a while since you were able to visit our beautiful area, let us tell you about some new additions to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. These are 4 New Things To Do in the Smokies on your next trip to our area!
Observation Tower at Anakeesta
Anakeesta is undergoing a very large expansion in 2020. As part of the expansion, they will be debuting a one of a kind observation tower. It is officially the tallest point in downtown Gatlinburg, surpassing the Space Needle that so many are familiar with. Enjoy panoramic views of Gatlinburg and the Smoky Mountains from the new tower. Anakeesta even let the public choose the name of the tower. After asking Facebook fans for their suggestions, Anakeesta officially decided on “Anavista Tower,” which blends Anakeesta with the name of the location of the tower in Vista Gardens. We are sure that this new tower will be quite popular among travelers to our area! Anakeesta is now open, please look at their website for information regarding hours.
Pigeon Forge Axe House
The Pigeon Forge Axe House opened up on May 11 and has seemed to be a big hit among locals and guests to the area! It provides a new activity that many aren’t accustomed to doing and is great for people of all ages. This is the one I am most excited about as far as the 4 New Things To Do in the Smokies we will be talking about today. Although I personally have not had the chance to check this thrilling experience out, I have heard only great things about it. In fact, one of my good friends did it this past week with her family. She had never thrown an axe before and had a fantastic time trying to hit that bullseye. Fun fact: She did it! She shared some photos on social media and I can tell you that it looked like a blast and the photo opportunities are just wonderful. If you are worried (like I was) when you hear people of all ages and everyone throwing an axe, don’t worry. The new attraction has all-star coaches who help you, teach you and guide you. They are there to make sure everyone has a fun and safe experience! With all that physical exertion, you are likely to work up an appetite. You can enjoy delicious wings, pizza and other great food from Pizza at the Cove after your axe throwing adventure.
Rowdy Bear Ridge Amusement Park
Rowdy Bear in Pigeon Forge has been working hard on completing their newest addition to their amusement park. The new play area will feature nets you can crawl through, a slide and more fun perks. Kids will really enjoy running around the new addition and parents will love two things. The smiles on their kids faces and the energy the kids will be using up, motioning to a good afternoon nap or an early night! Some of the other fun, family activities are an open tubing hill and a laser gun coaster. Details on the official opening date will be available soon and you can keep up with the progress here.
Bigfoot Philly Cheesesteaks
We all love to find new places to eat and Gatlinburg just added a new dining experience. Bigfoot Philly Cheesesteaks is located on the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg. It makes for the perfect place to stop and grab a quick bite while exploring the attractions and numerous shops. They have more than just cheesesteaks on their menu such as tacos, but their cheesesteaks are definitely the most popular. Check them out the next time you are walking around downtown and work up an appetite.
