Get Outdoors

Pigeon Forge Spring Break in the Smoky Mountains
Hiking in the National Park

We can get so busy in our day to day lives that we honestly forget to enjoy the most affordable activity we have and that is being outdoors. When on vacation though, you have time to slow down and enjoy the little things we take for granted with the busyness of life. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers an extensive range of activities for the family to enjoy. Hiking is one of the best ways to enjoy the Park and there are a number of suitable hikes no matter your level that include scenic views, historic structures and waterfalls. If you are looking for a family trail, we would recommend Laurel Falls, Grotto Falls, the Gatlinburg Trail or the Noah “Bud” Ogle Trail. Another one of the most beloved ways to enjoy being outside in the Smokies is by visiting Cades Cove or the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. Cades Cove is an 11 mile one-way loop that takes visitors past a variety of historic structures and natural landscapes. It is also one of, if not the best, place to spot some wildlife like bears and deer. You can easily make Cades Cove a full day event if you pack a nice picnic. There are numerous places to pull off for an outdoor picnic and there are some trails you can enjoy as well if you need to get out of the car for a while. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is very similar to Cades Cove in ways. It is also a one-way loop, although much shorter, and it takes you past some trailheads (including Grotto Falls that we mentioned earlier), roadside waterfalls and historic structures.

Thrill Yourself

Have any thrill seekers in your family or group of friends that you will be traveling with for your Pigeon Forge Spring Break? I am sure they want to do something daring and memorable while visiting then, just so they can post about it and say “Look at what I did!” Well, Pigeon Forge offers many attractions for those thrill seekers. The Outdoor Gravity Park is one of the most unique things you can do. You literally get into a Zorb globe and then glide down a rolling mountain. Yes, you read that right. You get in a globe and roll down a mountain side, lol. You can either choose to do a dry or wet ride. Either way, it is a memorable experience that you will love to tell people about. Although it is not technically in Pigeon Forge, we also recommend you check out Anakeesta. Located in Gatlinburg, this attraction is one of a kind in every way and is full of exploration, excitement and enthusiastic escapades. Gatlinburg is only minutes from Pigeon Forge so no worries, you do no have to travel far at all for this downtown attraction. Still fairly new to the area, they continue to add new ways for visitors to experience the fun in the Smokies. One of the best way to do that at Anakeesta is by ziplining. They also offer a swinging bridge-like area where you can do an aerial walk through the forest. Youngsters can enjoy the treehouse village which is quaint and super adorable. There are so many little hiding places for the kiddos – adults will love it too!
